Esther Chang Worley

Esther Chang Worley Piano Faculty/ Staff Accompanist

Born in Taiwan, Esther began piano lessons at the age of 5 and started providing music for her local church at age 9. She has been teaching piano for over ten years and instructs all levels from pre-school to adults. She is experienced in both virtual and in-person settings and has led students to superior ratings at local festivals. Esther studied with Dr. Ning Lu at the University of Utah and received first place in technique, solo, and concerto of the 2013 Summer Arts Competition. Esther performed with the Salt Lake Symphony and American West Symphony. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in piano performance under the tutelage of Dr. Scott Holden. Esther presented at the 2019 Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Piano Pedagogy Symposium in Washington D.C. and at the MTNA National Conference in Spokane, WA. Esther also spent time in Vienna, Austria performing and studying with professors Maria Prinz and Walter Fleischmann.

Esther loves to watch students get excited about the music they are learning and accomplish hard things each week. On top of mastering notes and musicianship, she sees how studying piano teaches diligence, hard work, perseverance, and creativity. Giving students the tools to understand music and appreciate art is an invaluable experience for Esther each week.

When Esther isn’t playing the piano, she enjoys reading, baking, and going on walks with her husband Alex and their pup Mozzie (Mozart).
